Actors Workshop

Look for this class in our Fall Session beginning September 24, 2012

Develop specific areas of advanced acting technique through individual instruction on relaxation in performance, scene work, characterization and script analysis. Enjoy the benefits of private coaching in a group environment. Culminates in an optional performance project in the Nicholas Studio. Prerequisite: Minimum one year of acting training or production history and a prepared monologue.

Format allows students to create a syllabus that fits their needs. Because of Hensel’s extensive experience in both contemporary and period theatre and film, she is able to provide personal coaching for each individual at his or her level of training. A typical class would include:

  • Working on monologues (some in preparation for important auditions)
  • Presenting a scene from a famous play
  • Working on ‘cold reading’ skills in a mock audition exercise
  • Grappling with the complexities of a Shakespeare piece

Although the entire class participates in warm-up games, most discussion/lecture happens in the analysis of what is being performed that evening. The atmosphere is casual, collegial and (because of this) highly stimulating, with lots of laughter.
