YOUNG PEOPLE
Youth and Teen Program
Weekly classes offered throughout the school year in fall, winter and
spring sessions bring the creative process to life for kids ages 8-17,
with performance opportunities for advanced students.
Summer Theatre Workshop
Beginning students, ages 8-17, enjoy two fun-filled weeks of classes
in acting, improvisation, movement and more that allow them to unlock
their creative imaginations.
ADULTS
Adult Program
An extensive slate of classes designed for both career-minded professionals
and those interested in personal growth and development are taught
by top professionals in their field.
Professional Intensive Program
This nationally renowned eight-week summer program for serious acting
students 18 and over (accepted by audition only) puts the finishing
touches on training for careers in theatre, film and television.
OUTREACH PROGRAMS
With input from its Education and Outreach Committee, SCR offers a comprehensive
array of programs to make live theatre a reality for the young people of Orange County.
Educational Touring Production
For 40 years, Southern California elementary school children have experienced an SCR-commissioned musical play; a creative teaching
tool that directly supports the California State Educational Framework.
Neighborhood Conservatory
Free after-school classes are offered at selected schools and community
centers.
EDUCATION
Theatre Discovery Project
High school students attend special matinee performances of plays studied in the classroom at great savings. This
season $10 TDP tickets are offered for The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde's classic comedy.
Theatre Access
Free admission to productions for students at selected high schools and community colleges who wish to experience live theatre.
Education and Outreach programs at SCR are made possible in part by support from The James Irvine Foundation, the Draper Family Endowment, the Camille and Eric Durand Endowment, the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fund for Education and Outreach Programs and the General and Mrs. William Lyon Family Foundation Endowment.
