Kids and Teen Acting Classes FAQ's
Where is SCR Located?
Where are the classes held? All classes are held in the state-of-the-art Education Center reached though the building’s Stage Door.
What is the pick up and drop off policy for students? Students can be dropped off on the Stage Door side which is located off of Park Center Dr. and Anton. Assistants will be with the students 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after class. When picking up, use the ticket receipt for 40 minutes free parking in the Westin parking structure (which you will receive after your child is registered).
What should my child wear to class? Students should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that will allow them to move freely, close-toed shoes, and hair pulled back for class.
How many children in each class? We accept no more than 18 students for 3-6th grade classes and no more than 20 students in 7-12th grade classes.
Are there make-up sessions if my child misses his or her class? Unfortunately, we do not have make-up sessions, and encourage no more that 2 absences for each session so the student can get the most out of the program.
Are parents allowed to watch the class? You may observe at anytime, but are restricted to twenty minutes to ensure an environment of greater freedom and creative expression.
Can my child bring a friend to class? While we encourage your child to share experiences with friends, no guests are allowed in class. Due to the nature of the work and our goal to create a safe environment, classes are open to “enrolled students” only. (Friends and family are welcome to attend classroom demonstrations at the end of each 10-week session.)
What class should my child join if he or she has had previous experience? All students new to SCR’s acting classes will be placed in a YEAR I class. Upon request, a student with previous experience in another program may be assessed for advanced placement by an interview and audition.
Will my child be performing a play? Our program focuses on process over product. In the first 2 sessions (fall & winter) students will focus on actor training. In the spring, students will rehearse a performance piece presented to friends and family on the last day of class. Rather than a fully produced performance, this is an opportunity for students to show off what they have learned in an informal atmosphere. Students who decide to continue the program will have more opportunity to perform after their first year.
How can my child be cast in A Christmas Carol? Auditions for A Christmas Carol are by recommendation from a teacher or the Theatre Conservatory Director. Those eligible must be currently enrolled 2nd year and above Conservatory students.
Adult Acting Classes FAQ's

How many students in each class? A maximum of 20 students in the Acting and Improv classes, a maximum of 15 in Camera and Playwriting.

If we are registered students is there space for us to rehearse? We suggest you meet on the terrace for rehearsal as all classrooms are in session day and night.
