SOUTH COAST REPERTORY'S theatre conservatory

SCR’s Junior Players (grades 5-8) and Teen Players (grades 9-12) must have completed at least two years of training. They are chosen after receiving strong recommendations from their instructors and going through an audition and inverview process. Players make a commitment to twice weekly classes during the school year and are held to the highest standards.

Mythical characters step from the pages of Ovid into a setting that young people will easily recognize (Midas is a billionaire venture capitalist; Apollo’s son has some issues with his dad and is seeing a shrink!). Linked by the transforming power of love, these stories retain their wonder and joy, even as they also deal with loss and suffering, in this lyrical play that CurtainUp described as “a mix of poignancy, uplift and humor.”
