Carefully designed to reinforce a broad range of skills, and provide specialized attention to the needs of each individual. Classes meet 10am to 4:30pm, five days a week, in SCR's Education Center Studios, the Julianne Argyros Stage, the Nicholas Studio and throughout the Folino Theatre Center.
WEEK AT A GLANCE Classes are divided into two sections of 10-15 students each. Classes run from 10am to 4:30pm. The diagram below is a sample of the first six weeks. The remaining two weeks are devoted to the final Performance Project.
Seminars and discussions by industry professionals have included actors Marin Hinkle, Kevin Rahm, Arye Gross, Jeffrey Tambor, Anthony Hopkins, Kathy Baker and K Callan (author of How to Sell Yourself as an Actor); casting directors Amy Lieberman (television), Rick Pagano (film, television and stage); talent agents Jerry Koch of The Gage Group and David Westberg of Triad; three-time Emmy-nominated television director Lee Shallat Chemel ("The Middle," "Samantha Who"); David Emmes and Martin Benson, SCR's Founding Artistic Directors.
Personal evaluation at the end of the eight-week session with the program director to discuss specific strengths and weaknesses and to guide students in developing a process of acting that works for them.
Showcase presented at the end of the summer before a specially-invited audience of theatre and industry professionals and representatives of SCR’s artistic staff. Participants will be eligible for auditions for large-cast SCR productions, and are eligible to become membership candidates in Actors' Equity.
