A Comedy of Bad Manners
Where’s Dolly Levi when you need her? In Becky Shaw, a deliciously dark comedy about a blind date gone horribly wrong, Max and Becky are set up for a night that spirals into disaster. Well, for them it’s a disaster. For playwright Gina Gionfriddo, it’s a chance to explore issues of class, money, morality, love and social ambition. Gionfriddo says no one in the play is meant to be a villain. So who’s the real victim here? You decide.

What Exactly is a Flurb?
If you have children or grandchildren, they probably know. Flurbs are just some of the strange and silly things that populate Wayside School, the setting for Louis Sachar’s beloved series of children’s books. His stories come to life at SCR Nov. 5, when the children of the 30th floor do battle against mean Mrs. Gorf, learn to play mooglatches and flurbs, and practice their counting skills. It’s an all-new production of one of the Theatre for Young Audiences series’ most popular shows of all time.

O.C.'s Movers and Shakers Throw a Party
Every September, the "season" begins with the SCR Gala. The dresses are gorgeous, the dinner scrumptious, the band hot, the speeches short and the money raised astounding. And there’s always something to talk about. 1978—white swans floated in the SCR fountain. 1980—OC history was made with the first ever white-tie affair (a precedent set and quickly abandoned). 1988—Picasso’s daughter, Paloma, joined the party at Tiffany & Co. 2009—Broadway’s Scarlet Pimpernel, Douglas Sills, sang and the room swayed. What were they talking about at “The Play’s the Thing” on Saturday, September 11, 2010?
