Meet this season's playwrights
, a group of talented up-and-comers, established craftsmen and Broadway legends, who, all together, have nine Tonys and four Pulitzer Prizes. Among them is a man who dropped out of high school after being falsely accused of plagiarism, another who just sold his first screenplay to Hollywood, and yet another who really likes peanut butter.

Let’s Get the Party Started

The party guests are beginning to arrive! There’s the glamorous but jaded married couple (Harry Groener and Mary Gordon Murray, left), the randy colleague, the comely young maid, the mischievous and mysterious uninvited guest... all that’s missing is you! Before you head out to experience Stephen Sondheim's elegant evening of song (which runs Sept. 11-Oct 11), dramaturg Linda Sullivan Baity tells you how Putting it Together came to be.

A New Play, in a Familiar Locale

Opening on the Argyros Stage Sept. 27 is The Happy Ones, a world premiere by Julie Marie Myatt set in our own Garden Grove in 1975. Find out from Associate Artistic Director John Glore why the play is set here and get to know the cast, which includes a man who began his acting career at age four on "Sesame Street" (Raphael Sbarge, left) and another who appeared on one of "Curb Your Enthusiasm"'s funniest episodes (Greg Watanabe).

Who’s Behind the Scenes? You!

Have you ever wanted to go backstage at SCR and wander around the sets, examine the scenery and props up close and learn the trade secrets of some of the country’s top theatre artisans? Ever wanted to ask actors how they do what they do? You can. Not once, but nine times this year through our Inside the Season series. Your first chance is coming up Sept. 26 in a session that will feature Broadway star Harry Groener.
