The Old Guard is giving way. What will happen once it’s gone? That’s the underlying question in Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg’s eighth SCR world premiere. Maxene is 92, rich and possibly immortal. Her grandson, Seth, no spring chicken himself, is not-so-rich, and hopelessly stalled. Redistribution must commence; and yet it seems the time is out of joint — but at least the joint is jumping in this ingenious new comedy about family, love, art, money, ambition, Christmas and — could it be? — homicide.
