'CULTURE CLASH IN AMERICCA' EXTENDED!horizontal rule

COSTA MESA, Calif. (March 28, 2008)—Due to popular demand, four additional performances have been added to the run of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa at South Coast Repertory. Both Orange County audiences and critics are howling at the irreverent and insightful humor by the acclaimed comedy collective of Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza. The added performances are as follows:

Thursday, April 10 at 7:45 p.m.
Friday, April 11 at 7:45 p.m.
Saturday, April 12 at 7:45 p.m.
Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m.

The Los Angeles Times proclaimed Culture Clash in AmeriCCa “Startling, Funny and Revelatory.”  “Anything these guys do is genius, and this show is no different” said the OC Weekly. The Long Beach Press-Telegram marveled at the troupe’s “pyrotechnic display that is wondrous and enlightening” and Variety exclaimed “The talent shines.”

Tickets to Culture Clash in AmeriCCa can be purchased online at www.scr.org, by phone at (714) 708-5555 or by visiting the box office at 655 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. Performances began on March 16 and continue through April 13. Ticket prices range from $28 to $62. Performance times: Tuesday through Sunday evenings at 7:45 p.m., Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Discounts are available for full-time students, patrons 25 years of age and under, educators, seniors and groups of 15 or more. There will be an ASL-interpreted performance on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m.

For the last 15 years, Culture Clash has been focusing on site-specific theater, weaving personal narratives culled from interviews into an ongoing dramatic tapestry. The celebrated troupe now sets its sights on Orange County. Culture Clash explores the county through interviews with its residents and adds Orange County’s unique voice to Culture Clash in AmeriCCa’s theatrical narrative. They have previously created performance pieces for theater companies in Miami, San Diego, New York, Houston, Boston and San Francisco. South Coast Repertory audiences last experienced the group in their adaptation of Aristophanes’ The Birds, co-authored by SCR’s Associate Artistic Director John Glore.

Socorro and Ernesto Vasquez are the Honorary Producers of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa. OC Weekly and KCRW are the Media Partners.

LOCATION: South Coast Repertory is located at 655 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, at the Bristol Street/Avenue of the Arts exit off the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Folino Theater Center, part of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Parking is available off Anton Blvd. on Park Center Drive.

Tony Award-winning South Coast Repertory, under the artistic direction of David Emmes and Martin Benson, is widely recognized as one of the leading professional theaters in the United States.
