"Putting It Together"
July 28, 2010. Members of the SCR Board of Trustees emerged from their annual meeting, lingered in the lobby for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and then made their way to the Segerstrom Stage, which was adorned with props, costumes and set pieces from 2009-10 Season shows, lit by a crystal chandelier that hung above tables set with shimmering linens and centerpieces of red roses.
And at the podium host actors were ready to roll. But first, a word from outgoing Board President Wylie Aitken, who welcomed Honorary Producers and other loyal SCR supporters to the final party of 2009-10, the theatre’s 46th consecutive season in the black.
“Putting it Together,” a retrospecive of that successful season (narrated by actors Linda Gehringer, Larry Bates, Geoffrey Lower, Jenny Parsons and Richard Doyle) took the audience behind the scenes for a unique look at how the shows were, in fact, put together. Illustrated by slides and videos and interspersed with thank-you gifts for the Honorary Producers of each show, the evening was a big hit with the entertainers and the entertained alike—a fitting tribute to Season 46 and a look ahead to 47.
