Saturn Returns a Hit Cast Party, Ditto
After giving Noah Haidle’s Saturn Returns a standing ovation on October 30, First Nighters headed for the second hit of the evening—the Cast Party at Wyndham Orange County’s lakeside terrace. The spacious outdoor setting spread over three levels, all lit and decorated to represent three stages in the life of Gustin Novak, the lead character in Saturn Returns.
Party-goers strolled the path from SCR to the hotel, where they were greeted by servers offering bubbly champagne and red and white wine. The hotel’s sumptuous dining options included individually prepared pasta dishes on the first (red) level; cheeses, breads and vegetable hors d’oeuvres on the second (orange), and desserts—featuring a chocolate fountain—on level three (yellow).
While enjoying fine food and camaraderie, First Nighters and their special guests were joined by the Honorary Producers Bette and Wylie Aitken, Director David Emmes, the playwright, actors and designers—and the conversation turned to the evening’s theatrical experience.
“I think everyone was as fascinated as Wylie and I,” said Bette Aitken. “We feel privileged to help produce this play, which was so unique, and we were thrilled that Noah could be here during rehearsals to continue working on Saturn Returns for this wonderful West Coast Premiere. It really was was one of the most touching plays I’ve ever seen. It’s the first time I remember crying at the theatre—someone reached over and handed me a tissue!”
