Why does SCR ask for donations? It would be great if we didn’t have to! The truth is that ticket sales do not cover the cost of putting on an outstanding show and running a theatre. They only cover about 65 percent of SCR’s total annual budget. We want to keep tickets affordable. We need to raise money to make up the difference between our expenses and the earned income of ticket sales.
If I did donate, where does the money go? Donations serve a critical purpose in every department. Your support helps pay for hiring actors, buying materials for the sets and costumes, commissioning new plays, presenting educational seminars and other community programs and free performances for school children.
Can I deduct a donation to SCR from my taxes? Yes, your gift may qualify as a charitable donation. SCR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public benefit tax-exempt organization, and our tax ID number is 95-6122708. Please consult your tax professional.
What do I get for donating? SCR offers excellent benefits to its donors for various levels of giving. See how we say “Thank you” to our supporters.

Do I have to pay all at one time? No, donations over $300 may be split into partial payments, from two to monthly.
How does a company’s matching gift program increase my membership level? When your company matches a portion or 100 percent of your donation, it increases your total support and could raise your membership level and possibly make you eligible for increased benefits.
What is the benefit of SCR’s VIP ticketing? SCR’s VIP ticketing service gives donors at the Silver Circle level and above access to the best seats in the house if they need to make ticket exchanges. Donors simply call the Development Office at (714) 708-5519 and can be assured that they will receive seats as good or better than their normal subscription tickets.
Do you have a planned giving program? We have a planned giving program through SCR’s Legacy Club.
Can I upgrade my giving level mid-year? Yes. This is quite common and we welcome your decision to increase your giving level before your upcoming membership renewal date. You may be entitled to upgraded benefits and recognition with your decision to do so.
