Marc Masterson & Honorary Producer Sandy Segerstrom Daniels at First Nights for Destiny of Desire.

At South Coast Repertory on Friday, Oct. 21, forbidden love, revenge, infidelity and burning passion played out onstage while First Nighters succumbed to the guilty pleasure of the telenovela-inspired Destiny of Desire—and then continued the evening at the Cast Party, co-hosted by The Center Club.

Jazzy salsa music set a romantic mood at the rose-filled event, lit partly by red and black hurricane lamps on elegant black and silver tables. Party-goers sipped the signature cocktail—a Latin-inspired “Paloma” with tequila, grapefruit soda and lime juice—and toasted the cast, playwright Karen Zacarías and director José Luis Valenzuela. Special thanks went out to Honorary Producers Socorro and Ernesto Vasquez and Sandy Segerstrom Daniels.

Daniels was exuberant about the play, saying it was “Clever and fun! I enjoyed every minute!”
