Cast includes 16 Theatre Conservatory students
COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 7, 2013. Tuesday was the first day of rehearsal for 16 students in SCR’s Theatre Conservatory, who portray the children in South Coast Repertory’s 34th annual production of A Christmas Carol.
The young actors alternate in eight roles, allowing them time to share the holidays at home with their families—as well as onstage with the SCR family, which includes Director John-David Keller, who has staged the holiday show since its inception in 1980; and Hal Landon Jr., SCR’s one and only Scrooge.
Keller holds auditions for the children’s roles, choosing from students with at least a year of Theatre Conservatory training. “Our actors and other artists are a very special group,” he says. Most of them veterans of numerous productions; however, with one exception, the youngsters are all newcomers to the show, and it’s great fun to see the joyful fresh faces and welcome them to our cast of professionals.”
The young actors include Grace O’Brien*/Clark Audrey Schwartz (Martha Cratchit), Liam McHugh/Noel Arthur Renfrow (Peter Cratchit), Jillian Tabone/Tasha Zentil (Belinda Cratchit), Nika Natalie Aydin/Erika Maggipinto (Tiny Tim), Lindsay E. Frazin/Shane Iverson (Fan/Teen Girl), Caitlyn Roum/Madison Nickless (Girl About Town), Dominic Brack/Jaden Fogel (Young Ebenezer/Oliver Shelley), Christopher Delfino/Thomas McCarthy (Turkey Boy).
