SCR’S SEASON OPENS WITH ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS
Hit Comedy Underwritten by Joan and Andy Fimiano and US Bank
COSTA MESA, CA, September 18, 2015. It’s been called “the funniest play on the planet,” and South Coast Repertory audiences agreed when One Man, Two Guvnors opened the theatre’s 2015-16 Season. Directed by David Ivers, the hilarious farce of mistaken identity is generously supported by Honorary Producers Joan and Andy Fimiano and Corporate Honorary Producer US Bank.
In his curtain speech, Artistic Director Marc Masterson talked about the show’s spectacular history as a runaway hit in London, New York and on tour. “We’re most excited, however, by this co-production with Berkeley Rep, where the show recently completed a wildly successful run. This is our sixth time partnering with them, all rewarding experiences.”
Joining Masterson onstage, Board President Sophie Cripe introduced SCR’s Founding Artistic Directors David Emmes and Martin Benson and thanked the underwriters, whose generosity made all the laughter possible. “This is Joan and Andy’s fourth time as underwriters, and with this show they are exclusive Honorary Producers, thereby giving SCR the resources to start the season with this extraordinary production. We welcome their continued support. Please read all about this dynamic couple in your program.” Cripe also thanked the First Night subscribers and especially those new subscribers, whom she welcomed to SCR’s First Nights family.
Managing Director Paula Tomei thanked Corporate Honorary Producer US Bank (represented by Joe Hensley, market president for Orange County; and Michael Lewis, SCR board member and regional manager of the bank’s private client group) a loyal sponsor over the years, having helped underwrite ten productions. She also thanked Media Partner Orange Coast, represented by Christopher Schulz, the magazine’s president and publisher.
Tomei added an invitation to the Cast Party on Ela’s Terrace after the show, which she reminded everyone would be a journey back into England in the Swingin’ Sixties, with food, drink, clothes—and hairdos.
Among the First Night subscribers were Steve and Laurie Duncan and Yvette and Kevin McCarthy, Dee and Larry Higby and Betty Huang and Yvonne and Damien Jordan,
Other special guests included Clay and Terri Friedman, Lydia and Ken Himes, Paul Leon and Lawrence Mien, David Guichet and Jacinthe Paquette, Leona Aronoff Sadaca and Joseph Sadaca.
