South Coast Repertory Adds Performance of A Christmas Carol in Response to High Demand

COSTA MESA, Calif. (​​Aug. 1​3, 201​9)— Today Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei announced that, due to popular demand, South Coast Repertory will add a matinee performance of A Christmas Carol. The Orange County holiday mainstay runs from Nov. 30-Dec. 24; the added performance is Thursday, Dec. 19, at 2:30 p.m. The surge in demand follows the announcement that Hal Landon Jr. will step down from portraying Ebenezer Scrooge at the end of this run, a role he originated 40 years ago for SCR’s stage adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic tale.

Ticket prices currently range from $27-$81. Tickets for all performances, including the added matinee, are on sale now at www.scr.org.

ABOUT HAL LANDON JR.: He is a South Coast Repertory Founding Artist who joined the theatre at its inception in 1964. He has appeared in the theatre’s productions of Gem of the Ocean, All the Way, Going to a Place where you Already Are, Rest, The Fantasticks, The Trip to Bountiful, A Mid-summer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Nothing Sacred, Man from Nebraska, Born Yesterday, A View from the Bridge, Habeas Corpus, Antigone, The Drawer Boy (Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award nomination), Major Barbara and Tartuffe. His other theatre credits include Arcadia, Our Town, Sidney Bechet Killed a Man, BAFO, Six Degrees of Separation, An Ideal Husband, A Mess of Plays by Chris Durang, Faith Healer, Green Icebergs, The Miser, Our Country’s Good and Waiting for Godot. Among his television and film credits are “The Closer,” “My Name is Earl,” “CSI: NY,” “Mad Men,” “The Twilight Zone” (1986),The Artist, Trespass, Pacific Heights, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Pee Wee’s Big Holiday (Netflix) and All the Way (HBO). He is reprising his role as Keanu Reeves’ father (Captain Logan) in Bill and Ted Face the Music.
