Other Ways to Give
A gift of any size makes a meaningful impact on our ability to produce live theatre created specifically for our Orange County community and to nurture the next generation of artists through our award-winning education programs and Theatre Conservatory.
There are many ways to give—whether through an annual donation, a gift of stock, or a contribution from your IRA.
Along with online gifts and personal checks, SCR also easily accepts a variety of tax-smart gift options including:
- Appreciated Assets: Donate long-term appreciated securities and potentially save income tax and capital gains tax. To ensure proper handling of stock donations, please contact [email protected] or (714) 708-5525.
- IRA Contributions: If you are age 70½ or older, satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) with a Qualified Charitable Deduction (QCD) to SCR.
- Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): If you would like to recommend a gift from your DAF, South Coast Repertory’s federal tax ID number is 95-6122708.
- Employer match gift: Many employers will match all or a portion of your donation, increasing your impact to SCR. Consult your company's HR department about a matching gift program.
What the New Tax Law Means for Your Giving
With changes to charitable deductions taking effect in 2026, now is an especially good time to talk to your financial advisor and explore the option that’s right for you
What’s new beginning January 1, 2026:
- Tax benefit for non-itemizers
Even if you don’t itemize, you can now deduct up to $1,000 (single) or $2,000 (married), above the standard deduction. Gifts to donor-advised funds are excluded. - New floor for itemizers
You must exceed 0.5% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) to claim a charitable deduction. Consider maximizing your giving in 2025 before the new rule takes effect. - New limit for top earners
Currently, top earners get a 37-cent tax benefit for every $1 deducted. Starting in 2026, that drops to 35 cents. If you are in the top tax bracket, consider giving more this year to avoid losing tax benefits next year.
