Haskell & White Celebrating a Legacy of Theatrical Support
For nearly three decades, Haskell & White has proudly partnered with South Coast Repertory, celebrating the power of storytelling through 31 sponsored productions, including this year’s The Old Man and the Old Moon, which held special significance, as it marks the final summer of performances at the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Dating to firm founder Dave White’s passion for the arts, supporting South Coast Repertory is more than just a sponsorship to the accounting and consulting firm. It’s a reflection of Haskell & White’s commitment to fostering cultural enrichment in the community. Team members with various levels of theatre-attending experience came together every summer to experience the Mission’s unique and magical setting for storytelling.
After seeing The Old Man and The Old Moon, several Haskell & White team members shared their personal reflections on the performance and the significance of the firm’s sponsorship of live theatre.
- Husam Kodsi, Senior Accountant: “Before joining Haskell & White, I wasn’t really into theatre. But being part of this firm sparked my interest, especially after attending SCR’s production of La Havana Madrid. That performance was an amazing blend of acting, singing, and dancing by incredibly talented people. It was more than just entertainment; it was a window into a world of art that I hadn’t explored before. That performance is my favorite play because it’s based on a real story that resonates deeply. A night at SCR isn’t just a night out—it’s an experience that transports you into the heart of creativity. Knowing that Haskell & White supports SCR fills me with pride; it’s a reminder that our firm values and contributes to the cultural fabric of our community.”
- Imelda Cleaver, AP/AR Specialist: “The Old Man and the Old Moon was an uplifting experience for me, especially as I’m going through some life changes. The play beautifully captures how, as we grow older, we tell stories of our past, reflecting on how things have changed and how we eventually pass the baton to the younger generation. It reminded me of the importance of always remembering what brings us joy. I appreciate the firm’s support of such meaningful art which makes me feel connected to a broader, more vibrant community.”
- Meagan Hayes, Director of Marketing: “A night out at the theatre offers a unique opportunity to build empathy by stepping into someone else’s story. It requires more mental engagement than watching Netflix at home, but that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding. The theatre draws you into the moment, encouraging you to focus on something beyond yourself. Watching The Old Man and The Old Moon at Mission San Juan Capistrano was a reminder of just how powerful live storytelling can be. I’m proud to work for a company like Haskell & White that supports this kind of cultural enrichment.”
- Faheem Sorathia, Assistant Controller: “Watching the Outside SCR production of The Old Man and The Old Moon at Mission San Juan Capistrano with my family and co-workers was truly a magical experience. The play was beautifully staged under the stars, with intricate set designs and captivating performances by the actors. The story was heartwarming and drew us in from the very beginning. …As an employee of a company that supports theatre and the arts, I feel a great sense of pride in being part of an organization that values creativity and culture. Watching The Old Man and The Old Moon was a reminder of the power of storytelling and the importance of supporting the arts in all its forms.”
Haskell & White employees thoroughly enjoyed their involvement with Outside SCR the last four years, an involvement that not only fortified the firm’s commitment to celebrating the stories that bring people together and the communities enriched by those stories, but deepened its rich legacy of artistic support. Through that support, Haskell & White helped bring cultural awareness and a passion for the arts to a new audience.
