Meet “Joan’s” Honorary Producers

It is their shared passion for new works that led Talya Nevo-Hacohen, Bill Schenker (above, left), Susan Shieldkret and David Dull to serve as Honorary Producers for Joan. Honorary Producers are the unseen heroes behind SCR productions. They underwrite the shows, and provide funding support, merging their generosity with the talent on stage and back stage to create world-class theatre.

Nevo-Hacohen and Schenker first became SCR subscribers 15 years ago. They are now First Night subscribers on both stages and Platinum Circle donors. Nevo-Hacohen is a real estate executive and just began her second season as President of SCR’s Board of Trustees. Schenker is retired after a 20-year career acting in New York and L.A.

They served as chairs for SCR’s Gala in 2017 and 2018. Joan is the couple’s fifth production as Honorary Producers, having previously underwritten avaaz, Poor Yella Rednecks and District Merchants, along with Future Thinking as members of the Playwrights Circle. All but District Merchants were SCR world premieres. As avid supporters of new works, Nevo-Hacohen and Schenker served as Honorary Producers of last spring’s Pacific Playwrights Festival.

Shieldkret and Dull were hooked on Joan after attending the NewSCRipts reading of the play in December 2022. They have previously underwritten several world premieres, including The Canadians (2019), and as members of the Playwrights Circle, Sheepdog (2019) and Little Black Shadows (2018). Recently, they served as Honorary Producers of Outside SCR’s The Old Man and The Old Moon, giving them a perfect record for supporting SCR’s summer productions between 2021 and 2024.

First Nights subscribers on both stages, Shieldkret and Dull began attending shows at SCR in 2003 and have been Platinum Circle donors since 2016. Shieldkret, a member of the SCR Board of Trustees, served as SCR Gala Co-Chair in 2020, and currently chairs the Circles Committee.
