SCR Salutes Major Donors at 2026 Season Celebration

On July 22, South Coast Repertory welcomed its major donors, trustees, Platinum Circle and Heritage Circle donors for the annual Season Celebration, an evening dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary generosity that made the 2025/26 season possible.

The event celebrated the individuals, foundations, and corporate partners whose investments sustain SCR's artistic excellence, educational programs and commitment to producing world-class theatre. Guests also gathered to honor two remarkable leaders whose service has left a lasting impact on the organization: retiring Trustee Michael Hards and outgoing Board President Talya Nevo-Hacohen.

During the evening, Managing Director Suzanne Appel reflected on a season defined by meaningful growth and momentum. Thanks to the unwavering support of SCR's donor community, the theatre expanded to six subscription productions during the 2025/26 season and announced an ambitious seven-show subscription season for 2026/27, with twelve total productions across its stages.

Audience attendance increased by 13%, while total revenue grew by more than $1.25 million, a 16.7% increase over the previous season. Suzanne also celebrated the successful transformation of SCR's signature fundraising event into PEEK!, an immersive experience that gives supporters an inside look at the artistry and craftsmanship behind every production.

While celebrating these accomplishments, Suzanne also shared SCR's vision for the future. Looking toward 2030, the theatre is committed to strengthening competitive compensation for its staff, refreshing its brand and digital presence, investing in its facilities, and expanding its ability to attract world-class artists and inspire new audiences.

As SCR continues to grow, the organization remains dedicated to producing a vibrant mix of comedies, classics, nationally recognized world premieres and contemporary works that reflect the community. SCR remains committed to the uniquely human experience of live theatre and to its core values of Artistry, Collaboration, Inclusion, Community, and Stewardship.

The evening also celebrated the many ways donors choose to support SCR's mission. Major donors make an impact at every level, from members of the Directors Circle, who champion visionary artistic leadership, to the Playwrights Circle, whose support helps bring new works from the page to the stage, to Honorary Producers, who underwrite individual productions, and Season Producers, whose extraordinary philanthropy supports the entire season. Platinum Circle and Heritage Circle members joined the celebration as well, enjoying the presentation and an al fresco reception on Ela's Terrace.
